Rock Your Career: How 25 Years of Speaking has Helped My Career and More! (Recorded Live)

On July 2nd, 2019, I had the honor of speaking at the San Diego .NET User Group, marking a significant milestone in my career. It was a special occasion as it marked my 25th anniversary of speaking at user groups and conferences. It’s incredible to realize that I’ve been engaged in this pursuit for a quarter of a century – time seems to have flown by!

From the very beginning, my motivation has always been to assist aspiring software engineers and professionals in the industry. Looking back now, I can clearly see how speaking and teaching have immensely contributed to my personal and professional growth. Through my speaking engagements, I have been recognized as an expert in my field and even received the esteemed Microsoft MVP program recognition.

During that memorable session, I shared insights into my journey, including how it all began and how it eventually led to writing books and creating training videos. I also spoke about the remarkable experiences I’ve had speaking in various countries. Throughout the talk, I shared captivating stories and provided practical advice on how to initiate or enhance one’s public speaking skills. In celebration of this special anniversary, I arranged for four guest speakers to join me on stage, each offering their unique perspectives. The lineup ranged from one of my former students to my closest friend, and together, we shed light on their own journeys into public speaking and how it has positively impacted their careers.

Looking back on this significant event, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had to share my knowledge and experiences with others. It’s been an extraordinary journey, and I’m eager to continue making a difference in the lives of those who aspire to succeed in the software engineering world.
